About mary-kay amos and CONSULTING Services
Being a Day Camp Director for over 20 years has provided Mary-Kay with a variety of opportunities to learn from industry experts, and hone her own professional skills in the Day Camp industry in Ontario, Canada.
May-Kay is an Registered Ontario Early Childhood Educator (RECE) who is also an Aquatic Management Professional with the Lifesaving Society and is certified as a Day Camp Director with the American Camping Association. She began her career in the Health, Fitness, and Recreation industry at the YMCA Kitchener and went on to become a General Manager of a number of fitness clubs with a major fitness chain in Canada. She then moved into the program creation side of the recreation and fitness industry by implementing camps and other recreational programs for children at exclusive Racquet and Health Clubs in Mississauga. Over the years Mary-Kay also owned a personal training company, worked as a freelance and corporate yoga and fitness instructor, and continues to work as a Supply Educational Assistant and ECE with the Upper Grand District School Board.
From planning, goal setting and business plan writing, to marketing, staff training, policy creation and implementation, to curriculum and programming, and even facility zoning, planning, construction, funding, and grant application submissions there is no area of the industry that she has not had professional experience with at this point in her career.
The additional challenges of dealing with the changes required in the industry to weather the storm of the Covid-19 pandemic strengthened her knowledge in the areas of risk mitigation, policy, procedure, and engagement with Public Health agencies. This challenging time also provided a wonderful opportunity to learn more about financial restructuring and business restructuring in creative and open minded ways that can help you to overcome any obstacle you might be wrestling with.
Mary-Kay is excited to bring all of this knowledge and her genuine enthusiasm for the industry to your camp, fitness business or program in order to help to make it a success!

Mary-Kay continues to advance her education and knowledge base. She is currently in the process of completing her education as a Recreation Therapist and she has recently become a Certified Forest School Director. She is able and excited to bring this aspect of her training to the table to see how that can tie into working with existing Forest Schools, Outdoor Pre-schools, and Outdoor Education based programs, and tie in the therapeutic aspect of her training as well.
What an exciting time to get the kids OUTSIDE to enjoy safe, and healthy opportunities that have never had more importance or meaning than they do at this pivotal moment in time. Getting more kids to camp and providing other creative forms of outdoor recreation and education is what it is all about!
