Kids Inc Camp is an outdoor program. We will remain open on days with showers or active weather. The program and facility would only ever be closed/cancelled for the day in the case of known danger. In the case of a weather related cancellation we would contact parents via email, and phone, Facebook, and other forms of social media. We would be in touch with the contact information provided on your registration - so please ensure that it is up to date. This has never happened at Kids Inc. - however - weather is dynamic and ever changing. It is wise to understand that it could happen if Environment Canada posted a report that was concerning for the safety of our campers and staff. As mentioned cancellations in this case would be made via phone, email, emergency posts to our Facebook and more. We would make every effort to contact you to inform you of such an event. We regret that no refunds would be possible in this event.
It is up to parents to decide if they wish to send their children to camp each day of our program based upon the weather report of the day.
During rain, and heat we will continue our program outdoors wherever possible, and your child must come dressed for the weather.
The program will only be conducted indoors (Mini Camp Only) when absolutely necessary. Under these circumstances, we may choose to run our programs in any of the following ways:
- If the Mini Camp area becomes too wet, Mini Campers will move under a large shelter and/or take shelter in our 700 square foot indoor multi purpose room. We may watch a movie as well as doing some indoor-ish camp activities.
- General Campers and LIT Campers will stay outdoors under the large shelter and participate in “under the shelter activities” until the active weather passes.
- If we must take shelter from dangerous weather we will do so in our washroom building until danger has passed.
Rain days can result in muddy and messy conditions at the park, so please make sure that proper clothing and footwear is provided. Keep in mind that your child could get muddy on rain days as we need to walk to and from the washroom facility through an area that is gravel, hard packed dirt, and grass.
Please be advised to assess the weather forecast prior to sending your child, and decide in advance if you are comfortable with sending your child to camp on an active weather day. If you choose not to send your child to camp on a rain day, you are not required contact us. No refunds will be granted for rain days that your child does not attend camp as the program and staff will be working at full capacity.
PLEASE NOTE - Rain days require proper foot wear, warm clothing (just in case we get damp/wet), and any other rain gear you may have to send with your camper. A prepared camper is a happy warm and dry camper ;) Thank you!
